ENT Surgery Recovery
Ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeries are among the most commonly performed procedures worldwide, from childhood ear tubes to adult sinus surgery. Each procedure has its own recovery pattern, but many share common themes: managing post-operative swelling, keeping surgical sites clean, and knowing when to seek help.
Common ear procedures and their recovery guides:
Recovery is tougher for adults than children. Pain peaks at days 5–7. Adenoidectomy
Usually performed in children. Faster recovery than tonsillectomy. Thyroidectomy
Thyroid gland removal. Voice changes and calcium monitoring. Parathyroidectomy
Parathyroid gland removal. Calcium monitoring is critical.
- Heavy bleeding from the nose, throat, or ear that does not stop
- Difficulty breathing
- Fever above 38.5°C / 101.3°F
- Clear watery fluid from the nose after sinus surgery (possible CSF leak)
- Facial weakness on one side after ear surgery
