Waiting, visiting, and supporting someone through surgery — and why we built this in the first place

Most of a recovery is spent in the room next to the patient, not the bed itself — sitting in a corridor, driving them home, standing at the ward door wondering if it’s okay to knock. This page is a starting point for that side of it: for anyone waiting through someone else’s hospital stay, visiting a person recovering from surgery, or trying to help a loved one through the weeks that follow.
