How long does adult circumcision take to heal?

Initial healing 2-3 weeks (when most stitches dissolve). Full recovery 4-6 weeks. Sensation continues to settle over 3-6 months.

When can I have sex after circumcision?

Most surgical teams advise 4-6 weeks. The wound needs to fully heal, stitches dissolve, and swelling settle. Use lubricant the first few times - the new skin is sensitive.

Why do I get painful nighttime erections after circumcision?

Everyone has multiple erections during sleep. Stretching the stitch line is uncomfortable. Pre-empt with pain relief before bed, empty your bladder, and stay calm - the stitches are stronger than they feel.

When can I shower after circumcision?

Most surgeons allow showering from day 1-2. Warm water, no soap on the wound for the first few days, pat dry gently. Avoid baths and swimming for 3-4 weeks.

How long until I can drive after circumcision?

Usually 3-5 days, once you can sit comfortably and react without discomfort.

Is bruising normal after circumcision?

Yes - bruising can spread to the scrotum and lower abdomen due to loose tissue and gravity. It looks dramatic but resolves over 1-2 weeks.

When can I return to work after circumcision?

Desk work or working from home: 5-10 days. Physical work or manual labour: 2-3 weeks.
